WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrader mod by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the item level Upgrade being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level upgrade level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade items discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade item. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade items path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
