Metapragmatic Questionnaires (MQs) This study looked at Chinese learners their pragmatic choices when they use Korean. It employed a variety of experimental tools including Discourse Completion Tasks, metapragmatic questions, and Refusal Interviews. Participants were 46 CLKs of upper-intermediate ability who provided responses to MQs and DCTs. They were also asked to reflect on their evaluation and refusal responses in RIs. The results showed that CLKs frequently chose to reject native Korean pragmatic norms. Their decisions were influenced primarily by four factors: their personalities and multilingual identities, their ongoing lives as well as their relationship affordances. These findings have pedagogical consequences for L2 Korean assessment. The MQ data was analyzed in order to identify the participants' practical choices. The RIs were recorded and transcribed, and then coded by two coders from different companies. The coding process was an iterative process in which the coders listened and discussed each transcript. The coding results are then contrasted with the original RI transcripts to determine how well they accurately portrayed the underlying behavior. Refusal Interviews (RIs) The central question in pragmatic research is: Why do some learners decide to not accept native-speaker norms? Recent research attempted to answer this question using a variety of experiments, including DCTs MQs and 프라그마틱 슈가러쉬 RIs. The participants consisted of 46 CLKs, 44 CNSs, and 45 KNSs from five Korean universities. They were asked to complete the DCTs in their first language and complete the MQs in either their L1 or their L2. The results showed that on average, the CLKs resisted the pragmatic norms of native speakers in more than 40% of their responses.
