There is currently a nationwide shortage of medications to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing issues and an increased demand in the world.

Our service can offer private ADHD testing as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of a single prescription.

A highly experienced psychiatrist consultant will conduct a thorough evaluation of your ADHD. This includes a thorough medical history, and an assessment using the common ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your assessment After your assessment, you will be informed whether medication is appropriate for your specific situation. This will be discussed at your follow-up appointment (which can take place in person, via video link or over the phone). Your physician will go over the various options for medications available. If you decide to begin medication, we can help you the option of titrating your dose to maximize the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This is a process which can take several weeks and requires adjusting your child's dosage gradually until the proper balance is achieved. It's not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medications before you find the one that is most suitable for your child's ADHD. It's important for parents to be involved in this titration process and keep an eye on their child's behaviour, so that they can inform the doctor if the medicine is helping or causing adverse effects.

If you do not decide to return to NHS treatment and have decided to return to NHS care, your medication will be provided with a private prescription which you will need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in your consultation fee). You will be required to attend every six months to check your medication. This includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is completed, you'll be able to schedule follow-up appointments with the psychiatrist as necessary. The appointment will usually be conducted via zoom video call. However, in some instances, it could be possible for an audio-only appointment to be conducted (again at an additional cost).

At this point, we will discuss any treatment options and agree upon a bespoke individualised ADHD medication titration program. This will include an assessment of your medication dosage and a discussion around any adverse effects you may be experiencing. The cost for these titration appointments is PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 for online or phone video consultations. The pharmacy will be charged for any charges for medication.

The psychiatrist will ask questions about your family history as well as the effects of your ADHD symptoms on your daily life and any mental health issues you might be suffering from. This is because ADHD can be a genetic disorder and it is essential to examine any family history that may indicate whether you are at risk of developing the disorder.

It is crucial to be honest and transparent with your doctor during the assessment, since the information they get will be used to determine if your ADHD meets the diagnostic criteria. This is a vital step in the process, since a failure to do so could result in an inaccurate diagnosis and consequently an inappropriate prescription of medication.

If you have decided that you would like to be treated for your ADHD, we will then schedule a follow-up appointment with one of our psychiatrists who specialize in this area. This can be scheduled in the wake of your diagnosis if want to start treatment immediately, or within two weeks if you prefer to take time to consider the implications of your diagnosis and the possibilities that are available to you.

Medication

Once you have been recommended by this method your chosen doctor will assess you and decide whether or not you're required to be titrated on medication. You'll need to fill out forms that are different for each provider but the most frequent ones are self-reporting questionnaires and medical histories that go back to childhood and adulthood. These forms will help your clinician determine if there are factors that could mean you shouldn't be taking adhd titration uk medication, when they've been prescribed.

If you are being titrated the medication will consist of a mixture of stimulants and non-stimulant drugs.
