UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. It is crucial to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a contemporary door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This style of door handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same spindle and screws to fix them. They are easily fitted on any uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be positioned and angled to suit the needs of all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, this helps to ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be shortened to fit more locks. This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is further back in the patio door handle replacement. A lever that is shorter can be used on doors with a latch that can be opened by the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. These handles are operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and styles.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White chrome, and Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with a spindle and screws, allowing them to be installed on an existing or new uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a wider handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which eliminate the problem of door handles that move out of horizontal position when they are not being used.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size you will then be required to make sure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. These are usually round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are spring-loaded. This means that they will return to a horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This keeps draughts out of the home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles for upvc windows are available in left and right handed versions which allows them to be placed on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock, allowing them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it is contingent on how your door and handle are used. External doors, for example should be equipped with cylinders with greater security while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to each end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to ensure that there is no cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been designed with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to deflect the attack and protect your doors.

There are also cylinders constructed to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed with a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is faster and more straightforward than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in, which could hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. There was a time when these types of handle did not have a spring built into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also stops your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC aluminium door handle handles. They are available as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
