UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on doors that are new or replacement. This type of door handle is available in a wide range of designs and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are suitable for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite door.

The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, which helps to ensure the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further away from the door. A shorter lever can be used for doors that have a latch that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles found on most doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are typically utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White Chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with the best performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles are supplied with the spindle and screws that allow them to be installed on an existing or new uPVC patio door handle. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a larger handle, which is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the issue of door handles that sag out of the horizontal position when not being used.

It is essential to ensure that the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the replace upvc window handle doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement may also be referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the right replace window handles.

After you have determined the correct size of PZ it is important to make sure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically a square or round shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are sprung. This means they will return to a horizontal state when not being used, rather than hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This keeps draughts out of the property. Also, the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are handed that allows you to put them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by using a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned to those in the lock, and permit them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors generally having different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is dependent on how your doors and handles are used. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features which can enhance security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump features.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in its position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is crucial that it is not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These features are designed to minimize the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help to deflect an attack and protect your door.

Certain cylinders are made to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent method of attack on cylinders, where the break line in the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is faster and easier to achieve than opening multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a break-in, which could hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned within the base of your door handle's backplate, providing a spring solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after using. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them, and without it they tend to droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple feature is among the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in an open or closed position, as they are not always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with multipoint locks sprung, they will not fit unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a hole specifically cut in your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of various kinds of uPVC doors. They are sold as one unit. They have a square-cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
