3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheeler can be used for off-road walks and to tackle terrain from rough roads or tracks in woodlands. They are also easier to move on kerbs, and they are less prone to slipping down when as opposed to 4-wheel models.

Stability

With four wheels and a central point of gravity that's balanced by weight of your child in the seat, buggies with four wheels are generally thought to be more stable than triwheelers. However, that doesn't mean the three-wheel buggie isn't worth considering, as many of these models are designed to handle everything from rough terrain to bustling high streets.

Look for a buggy with large rear wheels and one that locks on the front. This will make it easier to drive and less likely to break off when driving on rough roads. Manoeuvrability

Three-wheeled buggies generally provide better maneuverability than four-wheeled pushchairs. Some models also come with a lockable front wheel which can give you stability on rougher terrain. Some models can even be used with an additional seat or buggy board if you're planning to expand your family.

If you're planning to take your three-wheeled buggy off roads, you should consider choosing one equipped with tyres filled with air (also known as pneumatic tyres) which can cope with the most challenging terrain. They may have to be regularly pumped up from time the point, but they will be more durable and puncture-proof compared to solid tyres. Find a model with a an adjustable swivelling front wheel that locks to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.

When folded, three-wheelers may be heavier than four-wheeled buggies due to the single wheel on the front. Check that your chosen model can fit in the boot of your car and can be sat up should it be necessary. Some models are able to be folded with just one hand and stand on their own when collapsed. This will save space in boot spaces that are smaller.

A good three-wheel pushchair can take on any terrain from busy roads to forest tracks. But it's important to consider what you'll be using it for day-to-day. If you will be making the school run with it, it must be able to handle the kerbs and steep slopes. If you're planning to run with it, make sure it has a swivelling'stretch front wheel' that can be locked. This will help keep the ride stable.
